dr sarah talbot
Sarah is a Mum to two delightful human representations of chaos, and in her spare time is a consultant psychiatrist who gained fellowship with the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2019. Since that time, and during her Psychiatry of Old Age Advanced Certificate training, Sarah has worked across all arms of the local Older Persons Mental Health Service including inpatient, psychogeriatric consultation liaison, residential aged care outreach, and community. Her current focus is now on her role as consultant psychiatrist working at the Repat Neuro-behavioural Unit since it opened in Feb 2021.
In the context of caring for people living with advanced dementia, she is passionate about shining a light on the person underneath the illness, despairs of the misuse of Brodaty tiers as pejorative clinical labels, and encourages exploration of the responsibility of the environment and relational aspects of care in driving responsive behaviours.
